Even if your prescription is outdated, the lenses can be replaced and the frame reused.

Many don’t know this, but if you’re not ready to part with your favorite glasses, you can keep the frames and just update the lenses.

How Donated Glasses Are Reused Through CLERC

CLERC volunteers sort the donations by prescription strength. Each pair is:

Cleaned and inspected
Measured with a lensometer
Packaged by category

Then, the eyewear is shipped to developing countries where local clinics distribute it to people who need vision correction but can’t afford it.

This isn’t a landfill. This is life-changing.

Can You Recycle Broken Glasses or Scratched Lenses?

Yes. While broken frames or scratched lenses can’t be reused, CLERC recycles them responsibly.

If your glasses are just scratched, you may be able to replace the lenses and keep your frame.
